Healthcare Initiatives

At Project MEMA, we place the highest importance on the health and wellbeing of our students. We understand that access to quality healthcare is crucial for their overall development and success. That's why we are committed to investing in healthcare solutions that cater to the specific needs of the children we support in Tanzania.

According to recent statistics, the country faces numerous healthcare challenges, including a high prevalence of communicable diseases, limited access to healthcare facilities, and a shortage of medical professionals. For example, approximately 45% of the population in Tanzania lacks access to essential healthcare services, leading to preventable illnesses and health complications.

To address these challenges, Project MEMA has implemented various healthcare initiatives:

  • Project MEMA is committed to providing basic healthcare services to address common medical conditions such as infections, malaria, and other prevalent illnesses in Tanzania.

  • Comprehensive dental care for our students. Through partnerships with local dental professionals, we have been able to offer regular check-ups, cleanings, and treatments to ensure our students maintain good oral health.

  • Clubfoot, a congenital condition, affects many children in Africa, limiting their mobility and overall quality of life. At Project MEMA, we are dedicated to addressing this issue by providing foot braces to students, enabling them to walk and move freely. By partnering with local orthopedic specialists, we ensure that each student receives personalized foot braces that are fitted and adjusted to meet their specific needs. These foot braces not only improve mobility but also boost the self-confidence and independence of students, allowing them to fully participate in school and everyday activities.

  • Project MEMA recognizes the urgent need for medical intervention in cases of serious umbilical hernias in babies. We have provided financial support to cover the cost of surgery, ensuring that infants receive timely and life-saving treatment. Our goal is to alleviate the physical discomfort and potential health risks associated with umbilical hernias, allowing babies to grow and develop without hindrance.
